Running GrapheneOS on Pixel 8a

Privacy matters, and GrapheneOS offers a compelling alternative to stock Android without sacrificing usability.

Why GrapheneOS?

  • Privacy First: No Google tracking or telemetry by default
  • Security Hardened: Regular security updates and hardened kernel
  • Control: Granular permissions and sandboxed Google Play Services
  • Compatibility: Most apps work perfectly, including banking apps

The Pixel 8a Experience

The installation was surprisingly straightforward using the web installer. The Pixel 8a hardware works beautifully with GrapheneOS - smooth performance, excellent battery life, and all features functional.

You can still use Google Play if needed, but it runs sandboxed without privileged access. I’ve found most apps work without it.

It’s refreshing to use a phone that prioritizes your privacy while remaining practical for daily use.

Lastly the OS promotes longevity of the hardware not making it obsolete on purpose
